1980년대 초반 시장에 아직 플라스틱 페트병이 나오기 이전, 코카-콜라는 기존 패키지 외 매우 이색적인 상품을 내놓습니다. 1리터짜리 유리병에 든 코카콜라 입니다.
In the early 1980s, before plastic PET bottles were even available, Coca-Cola introduced something quite unique: a 1-liter glass bottle.
아마도 제 또래거나 연배가 위인 분들은 기억이 나실겁니다. 그리고 1980년대나 그 이후에 태어나신 분들은 아마도 인터넷에서 본 것을 제외하면 실제 유통되는 제품이나, 마셔 본 기억은 없을 겁니다.

인터넷을 찾아보니 마침 그 때 광고를 구할 수 있었습니다. 새로운 패키지의 개념은 가정용 대용량 패키지, 저렴한 가격이 소구포인트였던 것 같습니다.(사미자 선생님도 아주 젊으셨었네요)
I searched the internet and found an ad just in time. The new package concept seemed to be a large-capacity home package with a low price. (The model is a long-time Korean actress named Sa Mija.)
이 후 페트(PET)병이 출현하면서 이 1리터짜리 유리병 패키지는 더 이상 생산되지 않은 것 같습니다. 유리병을 생산하고 유통시키는 데 채산성이나 여러가지 문제가 있었을 것 같습니다. 이후 대용량(1리터, 2리터) 패키지는 모두 페트병으로 대체되고, 이후에 소형 패키지로 확대되었던 것으로 기억합니다.
With the advent of PET bottles, this 1-liter glass bottle package appears to have been discontinued. There likely were various issues, including the profitability of producing and distributing glass bottles. From then on, I recall that all large-capacity (1-liter and 2-liter) packages were replaced with PET bottles, and later expanded to include smaller packages.
역시 지금은 찾아볼 수 없는 디자인의 페트병입니다. 초기에는 지금과 같은 컨투어 병 혹은 그 변형된 디자인이 아니라 아주 볼품없고 단순한 형태의 페트였습니다. 위 사진의 병은 대전엑스포 스포서쉽이 디자인되어 있는 것으로 아마도 1993년 제품인 것 같습니다.
This is a PET bottle with a design you can't find today. Initially, it wasn't the contour bottle we see today or a variation of it, but a very plain and simple PET bottle. The bottle in the photo above features the Daejeon Expo sponsorship design, likely dating back to 1993.
병뚜껑 상단에 씌여진 글씨를 보면 "범양식품주식회사"라고 되어 있습니다. 예전에는 코카-콜라의 병입사업자가 두산, 범양식품, 호남식품, 우성식품 4사 였습니다. 그런던 것이 1997년에 코카-콜라가 직접 한국코카콜라보틀링 회사를 만들어 통폐합하였습니다.
The text on the top of the bottle cap reads "Beomyang Food Co., Ltd." Previously, Coca-Cola's bottlers were four companies: Doosan, Beomyang Food, Honam Food, and Woosung Food in Korea. In 1997, Coca-Cola merged them into the Korea Coca-Cola Bottling Company.
