Various Types of Coca-Cola Cans in Japan

코카-콜라하면 가장 먼저 떠 오르는 건 빨간색과 날렵한 곡선의 컨투어병일 것입니다. 하지만 이제 식당이나 술집같은 곳에서 가끔 접하는 것을 제외하면, 우리가 접하는 건 유리병에 담긴 코카-콜라가 아니라 PET병이나 알루미늄 캔에 담긴 코카-콜라일 것입니다.

 

When you think of Coca-Cola, the first thing that comes to mind is probably the red, sharply curved contour bottle. However, except for the occasional encounter in restaurants or bars, we're more likely to encounter Coca-Cola in PET bottles or aluminum cans, not glass. 

유리병만큼은 전세계적으로 동일한 디자인을 유지하고 있는 코카-콜라지만 과연 캔에서도 그럴까요?
코카-콜라 본사에 확인해 보진 않았지만 제가 경험한 바로는 그렇지는 않은 것 같습니다. 캔 용기와 용량도 각 나라마다 차이를 보입니다. 가장 일반적으로 사용되는 330ml캔(우리나라의 경우 맥주캔으로 많이 사용되는 용량이고, 음료용으로는 250ml캔이 많이 사용됩니다)도 나라마다 325, 330, 335, 350, 355ml 등 그 용량에 차이가 있습니다. 아마도 각 나라의 식습관과 밀접한 관계가 있을 것으로 추정됩니다. (요건 다음 포스트에 사진과 함께 다시 한 번 보여드리겠습니다)

 

Coca-Cola's glass bottles maintain a consistent design worldwide, but does that apply to their cans?
I haven't checked with the Coca-Cola Company, but based on my experience, I don't think that's the case. The can containers and capacities also vary by country. Even the most commonly used 330ml can (in Korea, this is commonly used for beer cans, and 250ml cans are commonly used for beverages) varies in different countries: 325, 330, 335, 350, and 355ml. This likely has to do with each country's eating habits. (I'll show you this again with photos in the next post.)

이웃 나라인 일본만 해도 다양한 용량과 용기에 담긴 코카콜라를 만날 수 있습니다. 우리나라와 같은 원통형 캔이 일반적이긴 하지만 일본에선 NB캔(New Bottle Can)에 담긴 코카-콜라도 쉽게 접할 수 있습니다.

 

Even in neighboring Japan, you can find Coca-Cola in a variety of capacities and containers. While cylindrical cans, like those in Korea, are common, it's also common to find Coca-Cola in NB cans(New Bottle Can).
