Coca-Cola Cans from Korea in 2004

2003년 패키지 소개 포스트에서 보여드린 것과 같이 2003년 중반 빨간 바탕에 병뚜껑을 따는 이미지에서 스펜서체의 코카-콜라 로고 밑으로 물결 무늬를 사용하는 이미지로 대표 이미지가 변경되었습니다.

As shown in the 2003 package introduction post, the representative image was changed in mid-2003 from an image of a bottle cap being opened on a red background to an image using a wave pattern underneath the Coca-Cola logo in Spencer type.

 

2004년 2월 발렌타인데이 기념 코카-콜라 디자인 패키지입니다. Love Coupon이라는 단어와 입술 자욱을 모티프로 활용하였습니다.

This is a Coca-Cola design package commemorating Valentine's Day in February 2004. The words "Love Coupon" and lip prints were used as motifs.

 

2004년 4월 코카-콜라의 프로모션용 웹페이지 코크플레이(CokePLAY)가 오픈하고, 250ml와 245ml캔 모든 패키지는 해당 내용을 고지하는 디자인으로 다 바뀌었습니다. 245ml캔은 일반 소매점이 아닌 치킨집, PC방 같은 일반 소매점이 아닌 곳에 유통하기 위해 나온 캔인것으로 추측되며 대략 이 때부터 사용된 것 같습니다.

In April 2004, Coca-Cola launched its promotional website, CokePLAY, and all 250ml and 245ml can packages were redesigned to display this information.The 245ml cans were likely intended for distribution in non-traditional retail stores, such as chicken restaurants and internet cafes, and their use appears to have begun around this time.

6월에는 DJ DOC를 모델로 기용한 디자인 패키지가 선보입니다. 이는 코크플레이가 오픈 당시 Music, Game, Event를 3대 서비스 메뉴로 가져갔기 때문인 것 같습니다.

In June, a design package featuring Korean singers, DJ DOC will be unveiled. This likely stems from the fact that Cokeplay initially launched with Music, Games, and Events as its three main service menus.

 

위 사진의 캔은 2005년 1월 28일 생산된 캔이지만 2004년 겨울 패키지로 보는 것이 맞을 것 같아 이번 포스트에 포함시켰습니다. 해외에서는 해마다 크리스마스 또는 연말용 한정판 디자인 패키지가 선보이는데 참 아쉽습니다. 그나마도 2004년에는 겨울용 패키지가 있었다는 사실이 감사할 뿐. 

The can in the photo above was produced on January 28, 2005, but I included it in this post because I believe it's more appropriate to consider it as part of the 2004 winter packages. It's a shame that limited edition design package for Christmas or the end of the year is released overseas every year. At least we're thankful that there was a winter package in 2004.
